Parting

I watch the silver white wisps pulled into thin rows from back to front. The air beckons them. They want to float. Another pull from back to front and they are at rest. Now there is a precise pull, not from the top forward but more to the side then downwards and slightly toward the back.

A furrow appears, created by the new sideways pull. From that furrow, the remaining majority of silver white wisps are pulled to the other side. Then a few light rearward pulls on each side, and I guess I’m ready.

Hair has become hairs.
